Brightening up Sevenoaks

I hope you and your family and friends are coping with the continuing lockdown and at the same time discovering new interests and hobbies. I’d like to mention a proposed activity designed for children asking them to help us brighten up Sevenoaks as soon as lockdown ends.

In a nutshell, we are inviting children to bring along a plant they themselves have grown in a pot to the Vine Gardens when lockdown ends. The plant should be bee or butterfly friendly – or be edible.

The BBC are taking an interest in this. I gave an interview to the BBC Radio Kent Gardening show on Sunday. The host of the show, Andy Garland, has offered to come along on the day and interview some of the children who participate. You can hear the interview 1 hour 34 mins into the show here:

We’d love to hear your plant stories – keep us posted. Let Ann know at Sevenoaks Town Council. Her email is dtc@sevenoakstown.gov.uk

I look forward to meeting you when a planting date has been set in the Summer.
