PRESS RELEASE
SEVENOAKS TOWN COUNCIL AWARDS £25,000 COMMUNITY INFRASRUCTURE LEVY (CIL) FUNDING TO SEVENOAKS INDOOR BOWLS CLUB FOR SOLAR PANELS
Sevenoaks Town Council has awarded £25,000 match funding to the Sevenoaks Indoor Bowls Club to help install solar panels to its clubhouse building.
Investing in the solar panels will improve the Club’s carbon footprint and reduce the amount of electricity it is purchasing from the grid, which ties in with the Town Council’s Green Community Investment Plan.
Subject to all other funding being in place, the Committee agreed to allocate £25,000 of the Town Council’s CIL money to the project, to be used as match funding towards the SDC CIL allocation if successful.
This will help ensure the ongoing survival of the sports Club and the use of the premises by many community organisations for their activities.
At the meeting of the Town Council’s Finance & Delivery Committee on 14th October 2024, Councillors noted the CIL application submitted to Sevenoaks District Council (SDC) by the Indoor Bowls Club, together with grants achieved or in the pipeline.
