Midsummer madness as Sevenoaks Summer Festival heats up
Published: 24 June 2025
Opening Sevenoaks Summer Festival is the best job all year for the Mayor. This year it was especially good - midsummer day and glorious weather - the hottest day of 2025 so far, as well as the longest.
Ray Russell and the team of volunteers who pull all the events together for the Festival have - as always - done a great job. There was plenty to do on the opening day - choirs in Bligh's and in Bank Street, jazz and The Lewis Project next to The Oak pub, Punch and Judy in The Shambles, magic opposite JoJo Maman Bébé, puppets at Stag and stilt walkers wandering all round town.

The atmosphere was wonderful - very busy but relaxed, with a real community feeling. Let’s hope the weather stays good until July 6th when the Festival draws to a close.
Until then, there are hundreds of events - professional and amateur, music, drama, heritage events, talks, and lots of others. It’s a great exhibition of talent in our community. There’s definitely something for you in the programme -
take a look here. Some of them you can just turn up to - others your need to book.

See you there!
Cllr Tony Clayton
Mayor of Sevenoaks
