2017 information:

The second end of term Summer Festival “Live on the Vine” event was held in July, organised for young people by the Youth Council, with more than 600 members of the public of all ages enjoying the performances.

In total there were 17 stalls, comprising: The Air Training Corp, Breast Cancer selling cakes, IMAGO with tattoos, Thomas Cookie, SAYT, Face Painting, Westerham Sea Cadets, Young Kent, an ice cream van, HOUSE in the Basement selling cold drinks, a Wii Interactive stall, Kenward Trust, Raj Bari curry house, Wagamama, Royal British Legion and a West Kent Communities stall.

A photo booth free to the public was enjoyed by many courtesy of a grant received from Sevenoaks District Council of £395. Everyone received two photos free of charge and the Town Council received an album for its historic records.

Youth Council's 2018 Street Art Competition - shows winners art at HOUSE in the Basement

The Youth Council also held a competition for Street Art, with the winners picture (as shown) which was transformed by a local street artist with the winner and other young people during the summer holidays to the side of HOUSE in the Basement.

Members of the Youth Council have also been instrumental in the development of the Youth Café: HOUSE in the Basement by holding various events over the year including: Mental Health, Exam Stress Busting and Theatre workshops. They have successfully received a donation from Sevenoaks School for £350 to buy a new IPad for the youth café.

At the Annual General Meeting in December 2017 Elise van den Hoek was elected Chairman, Phoebe Crichflow was duly elected Vice Chairman and Katie Willis elected Treasurer.

Following the success of the Live on the Vine Event, Youth Councillors continued with their monthly Open Mic Nights from September thereby enabling young performers to partake on stage at the Christmas Lights Switch On Event on 24th November 2017 and from January 2018 have arranged for FREE Music Drop in Lessons to be held monthly just prior to the Open Mic Nights. Auditions are held for these two annual events at the regular Open Mic Nights.
