PRESS RELEASE: Free Skate Boarding Sessions for Girls

At the meeting of the Youth Services Committee held on 24^th January 2024 it was agreed to provide funding of £1,110 for free Skateboarding sessions for girls over 6 weeks in the Sevenoaks area at Greatness Recreational Ground Skatepark.

The Six weeks will be split into three, two week programmes for each of the age groups at run allowing more young people to participate. These free sessions would be running every Thursday starting on the 18^th of April with the final session being held on the 23^rd of May. Each session will last up to one hour, due to limited availability we only have places for 10 girls per two week session. 

When will the Sessions be held:
18^th of April until 25^th of April
2^nd of May Until 9^th of May
16^th of May until 23^rd of May
These sessions will be split into two age groups:
7 - 12 year olds- 4:00P.M. – 5:00P.M.
12 - 17 year olds 5:00P.M. – 6:00P.M.

During these sessions 25% of the skatepark would be shut to accommodate the lessons. These sessions would be run by Ollie Ireland from Samsara Sport.

“Free girls' skateboarding sessions at Greatness Skatepark. For all abilities from beginner to expert. Sign up to 6 weekly sessions from 18th April to 23rd May. All sessions are overseen by Skateboard GB Instructors who can supply pads, helmets, and boards.
These sessions are funded and supported by Sevenoaks Town Council with the aim of supporting and encouraging local girls to participate and flourish in skateboarding alongside the boys. We are looking to establish a club at Greatness Skatepark.”
