In Great Big Green Week, Sevenoaks Town Council has unveiled another initiative to help residents save money and aid the environment.

The Town Council is working with Kent County Council to deliver a free workshop to help residents improve their property with effective ways to reduce energy consumption, benefitting the environment and saving on energy costs.

The event will be held at the Town Council Offices in Bradbourne Vale Road on Wednesday, June 27, from 7pm to 9pm.

Independent experts from the University of Greenwich (Faculty of Engineering and Science) will explain how to get started and provide information about building, fabric, insulation, heating systems, smart buildings, renewables, and more.

All residents are welcome to attend the event and there is no need to book.

The council's ongoing initiatives include:

As part of its Green Investment Plan, Sevenoaks Town Council has also created a Thermal Imaging Scheme to help local residents identify cold and damp spots and where heat is potentially being lost within their home.

The council has purchased two Thermal Imaging Cameras which are available to borrow free for residents within the Town Council’s parish boundary. Residents can loan these from the Town Council Offices by pre-booking them.

Residents using the camera will also be asked to complete and agree to Terms and Conditions of Hire and complete a short questionnaire so that the success of the scheme can be evaluated.

And the Town Council has also launched a Car Club in partnership with Enterprise which offers residents the opportunity of an hourly or daily vehicle self-service hire, via an app, as and when needed.

Two hybrid vehicles, based at Bat and Ball Centre carpark, are in the scheme. Special joining discounts for Sevenoaks residents are being offered and hirers only pay for any fuel they actually use. The scheme is available 24/7.
