Linda Larter MBE FSLCC, Clerk to Sevenoaks Town Council, has been honoured with a top national award from her professional body, the Society of Local Council Clerks (SLCC) which represents clerks from over 5,000 town, parish, and community councils across England and Wales.
SLCC awarded Linda the Long Service Award at its National Conference recently. The award, drawn from a shortlist of nominations submitted by local council professionals, recognises a select few nominees annually who have dedicated themselves to serving the local council sector and SLCC over an extended period of time.
Congratulating Linda, Rob Smith, SLCC Chief Executive, remarked, "Linda’s long-standing dedication is a testament to the invaluable contributions that clerks make to their councils and communities.
“She has served as SLCC President during the pivotal Covid years (2019-2020) and played a crucial role in developing the Civility and Respect Project. With over 30 years of clerking experience, Linda is not only a Director of the SLCC Board but also the Region XI Director of the IIMC and Chair of the SLCC Educational Trust, in addition to having served as Branch Treasurer.
“Her leadership at Sevenoaks Town Council and successful oversight of key community projects demonstrate her lasting impact. For all these reasons, Linda is highly deserving of this long service award."
In response, Linda said, "I am truly honoured to receive this long service award. My time as a clerk has been incredibly fulfilling, and I am passionate about supporting my community and fellow clerks.
“This recognition reflects the collective efforts of all those I have worked with over the years, and I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to our profession and make a positive impact."
