Revving up to the Sevenoaks Community Bus Scheme

A new Sevenoaks Community Bus Scheme for local groups is set to be launched by the Town Council following its successful application for a grant of almost £90,000 from Kent County Council.

The grant covers £77,745 capital grant to buy a vehicle and equipment, and £9,350 revenue grant to cover initial set up costs, a total of £87,095. The scheme will run for a minimum of three years.

The community bus project, once up and running, will mean that local community groups will be able to hire the minibus at a cost lower than renting one commercially.

The council is looking at electric vehicles to fit in with its Green Community Investment Plan.
