Sevenoaks Town Council continues its investment into Community Assets

Published: 23 April 2025

At the Town Council’s Finance & Delivery Committee held on 14th April 2025 Town Councillors took the decision to invest funds into progressing Feasibility Studies for improving current and providing future Community Assets for Sevenoaks.

This included:
  • £15,000 towards a sustainable Masterplan for the future of the Stag.
  • £4,500 towards the Feasibility Study for the Oast House on the Greatness Site
  • £12,000 towards the provision of an Electric Community Mini Bus following grant assistance of £87,095 from Kent County Council.

In addition, putting in place arrangements to be the ‘Accountable Body’ for the Greatness Community Football Pavilion.

Cllr Tony Clayton, Chair of the Finance & Delivery Committee stated:

"After yet another year when Sevenoaks Town Council has lived within its budget, as well as delivering several improvements in the town with strong community support, I’m delighted that we are able to keep up momentum heading into 2025/6. If all goes to plan the next 12 months should see the launch of the Greatness Pavillion and the Dartford Road crossing, and perhaps other projects.

I’d like to pay tribute to our officers for persuading Kent County Council to sponsor a 13 seater electric bus, to help youth and community groups around the town. They know Sevenoaks delivers on projects like this, so are happy to support us.

In addition, the Town Council has put its own cash behind two longer term design projects:
- the Greatness Oast House, which will link the new development at Greatness Lake into the wider community of Sevenoaks and where Tarmac is keen to work with us
- Stag Theatre, which has had 15 successful years since it was saved by Sevenoaks Town Council but needs investment to attract a wider range of shows, or even - as one potential partner has suggested - to host a music and theatre school.

We’re asking national experts to draft initial ideas, starting with local feedback - using public money to encourage private investment - and a long term future”
