Sevenoaks Town Council reports progress on anticipated Dartford Road crossing
Published: 16 July 2025
Sevenoaks Town Council has led on and committed funding towards a highly anticipated zebra crossing at A225 Dartford Road as part of its previous funding of the 20mph scheme delivered in September 2024, and is excited to see it reach the next step towards its implementation.
The proposed design and placement of a zebra crossing on A225 Dartford Road, currently being consulted on by Kent County Council as the Highway Authority, was therefore received with enthusiasm by Sevenoaks Town Council’s Planning & Environment Committee on 14th July 2025. The Town Council has since submitted a formal response to Kent County Council’s consultation on the design, expressing its support and requesting that the crossing be delivered as soon as possible.
Details of the design may be viewed via the below link, with the opportunity to submit comments due to close on 21st July 2025:

The Town Council’s dedicated funding of £25,000 (comprising solely of CIL* monies collected from local developers) towards the project has since been met by a further £20,000 from Sevenoaks District Council’s own CIL funds. The remainder of the delivery cost is hoped to be covered by a grant from the Consolidated Active Travel Fund, to be applied for by Kent County Council.
