VJ Day 80 concert and flag raising

Join us to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VJ Day.

Sevenoaks will mark the 80th anniversary of Victory over Japan (VJ) Day with two community events on the Vine on Friday 15 August:

• 11 am: Flag Raising and Wreath Laying Ceremony
• 6 pm to 8 pm: Concert on the Bandstand with singer Jessica De Giudici 

The commemorations will begin with a Flag Raising and Wreath Laying Ceremony at 11 am on the Vine. Local residents are encouraged to join, as we honour and remember those who fought and died during the Second World War in the Far East.

In the evening, the community is invited to gather on the Vine and enjoy a free open-air concert on the Bandstand, from 6 pm to 8 pm. Singer Jessica De Giudici will perform Vera Lynn classics and popular 1940s songs, offering a nostalgic tribute.

The Café on the Vine and Pavilion Bar will be open for refreshments, and toilet facilities will be available throughout the event. Attendees are welcome to bring picnic rugs and chairs to watch the concert in comfort.
