Dartford Road Zebra Crossing

Sevenoaks Town Council has led on and committed funding towards a highly anticipated zebra crossing at A225 Dartford Road as part of its previous funding of the 20mph scheme delivered in September 2024, and is excited to see it reach the next step towards its implementation.

The Town Council’s dedicated funding of £25,000 (comprising solely of Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) monies collected from local developers) towards the project has since been met by a further £20,000 from Sevenoaks District Council’s own CIL funds. The remainder of the delivery cost is hoped to be covered by a grant from the Consolidated Active Travel Fund, to be applied for by Kent County Council.

CONFIRMED delivery timeline (last updated 16th January 2026)

Sevenoaks Town Council is delighted to inform that the detailed design, consultation, and construction package for the zebra crossing at Dartford Road A225 has now been approved for construction by Kent County Council's Highway team.

Roadspace has been approved for the works to begin during the school holidays from 16th February 2026, with a programmed duration of 6 days. To complete the scheme safely and efficiently, a maximum of two nighttime road closures is required.

During daytime working hours, access to Dartford Road from Hitchen Hatch Lane, Vine Court Road and St Botolphs Road will be restricted. Traffic will be managed by Kent Highways under two-way temporary traffic signals in order to allow construction activities to be completed.
