Sevenoaks in Bloom

What is Sevenoaks in Bloom?

Sevenoaks in Bloom is a group of volunteers, local businesses and partners led by Sevenoaks Town Council who come together to care for our environment, protecting wildlife, and encouraging the community to join in with creative and environmental projects in our town.

Through gardening, we bring people together to create a positive and lasting improvement to our environment for the benefit of all. We address issues such as sustainability, recycling, minimising waste, and energy conservation. Sevenoaks in Bloom is about creating a stunning environment in which to live, visit and work.

Sevenoaks in Bloom won Gold in the Britain in Bloom 2025 national final. In the summer of 2026, we will be judged for the South & South East in Bloom competition.

Sevenoaks in Bloom 2026

This year is David Attenborough's 100th birthday and we'll be celebrating his work in our 2026 Sevenoaks in Bloom campaign. Our planting colour scheme will be blue, yellow and green. We are also celebrating bugs again this year and the important role they play. We'll have edible plants and herbs, as well as flowers for pollinators.

How can you get involved?

We're looking for volunteers to knit or crochet caterpillars and butterflies, so if you're looking for a creative project, please get involved! Here are some patterns you may like to use:

We will also be looking for schools to help with our campaign, as we ask them to create their own David Attenborough-themed artwork to display in the Vine Gardens.

Judging will take place in July, so we'll be seeking extra support with gardening and tidying in the run-up during our tidy-up days.

You can also help the town to look its best by 'adopting' a planter in Sevenoaks, caring for the flowers in it and making sure it's free of weeds.

We're also seeking support from businesses again, who can give staff time to volunteer.

We would love to hear from you if you are interested in getting involved, please email communityeng@sevenoakstown.gov.uk or call 01732 459953.

Britain in Bloom 2025

Results

Sevenoaks achieved remarkable success at the RHS Britain in Bloom Awards on Friday 31st October, held in Brighton. Sevenoaks in Bloom won four awards, as well as a Gold standard in the Town Centres & City Centres category, recognising the outstanding community effort.

The town’s campaign won a Judges' Highlight Award, celebrating important partnerships, particularly with Rockdale Housing Association. The hard work Rockdale Housing Association’s staff and residents put into creating a stunning garden was recognised again as their Head Gardener, Annette Whitney, was awarded the Community Champion award.

The Sevenoaks in Bloom team was also delighted that two young volunteers in the community won Young Champion awards – Willow Loudon and Bonnie Flawn. Willow, a talented crafter, crocheted two intricate post box toppers that brought joy to the town centre. Bonnie and her friend Emma took part in a sponsored litter pick to raise funds, which they used to buy plants for the Vine Gardens.

Our Sevenoaks in Bloom campaign featured on the BBC's The One Show on Friday 31 October 2025. You can see the program via this link.
