On Sunday 27th February 2002, the Sevenoaks Mayor, Cllr Merilyn Canet hosted the Annual Pancake Race on the Vine Gardens.

For the first time in many years the weather was fine which was an added bonus.
The pancakes and frying pans were provided by the Café on the Vine.
Cllr Victoria Granville Baxter and Cllr Roddy Hogarth volunteered to run the events.

Participants had to race around the Vine Gardens with their pancakes and ‘toss’ them at each corner. The person with the fastest time receives Stag Cinema tickets as a prize.
This year we had entries from 2 ½ upwards and even Maureen and Rory Hollister competed in their motorised wheelchairs.
