Schools and Residents to join the Mayor plant trees for The Queen's Green Canopy

Published: 28 November 2022

Sevenoaks Town Council will be planting trees alongside schools and residents for The Queen’s Green Canopy on Friday 2nd December 2022 in Littlewood. The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) is a unique, UK-wide tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee 2022, by inviting people to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee.” The initiative aims to encourage everyone to learn more about the best way to plant trees so that they survive and flourish for years to come.

The silver birch, rowan, and wild cherry saplings to be planted on 2nd December were received from the Woodland Trust and obtained by Wild in 7oaks, a small community organisation which encourages Sevenoaks residents to garden in a wildlife friendly way.

The Queen’s Green Canopy encourages everyone, from individuals to Scout and Girlguiding groups, villages, cities, counties, schools and corporates to plant trees.

Sevenoaks is proud to be working alongside the community in support of The Queen’s Green Canopy.
