Sevenoaks Town Council is delighted that The Vine has been recognised as one of the UK’s very best green spaces and has been awarded Green Flag status for 2022/23.

Volunteers and Sevenoaks Town Council staff have worked tirelessly throughout the year to make the gardens look their very best this year for residents and visitors. The Vine is home to Kent’s oldest cricket ground where visitors can enjoy refreshments at the Café on the Vine and enjoy Music on the Bandstand during the summer months.

The Mayor of Sevenoaks, Councillor Rachel Parry, said: ‘The parks and gardens of Sevenoaks, especially The Vine, make Sevenoaks one of the best places in the country to live, work and play’. Keep Britain Tidy's Chief Executive, Allison Ogden-Newton OBE said of the winners: “Parks are an essential part of our green infrastructure, playing a key role in our environmental sustainability. “They are often the beating heart of a community, providing countless benefits to people and wildlife.”

The Green Flag Award scheme recognises and rewards well managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management of recreational outdoor spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world. The scheme aims to ensure that everybody has access to quality green and other open spaces, irrespective of where they live and to ensure that these spaces are appropriately managed and meet the needs of the communities that they serve.
