  PRESS RELEASE
Crowds gather to mark D-Day 80th anniversary on the Vine
Around 500 people gathered on the Vine Gardens to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day on June 6.
After a concert of 40s tunes on the Bandstand, the Town Crier, Mayor of Sevenoaks Cllr Libby Ancrum and other invited dignitaries, led the procession to the war memorial for the wreath laying, and then the beacon lighting.
The Town Crier issued the proclamation before the Mayor and the assembled crowd repeated the International Tribute. The Mayor then lit the beacon at 9.15pm before the Town Crier led a cry of “God Save the King”.
Dignitaries invited included Mr Lennox Cato, Deputy Lieutenant of Kent.
