Hospice in the Weald Moonlight Walk

Published: 17 June 2025

The biggest Sevenoaks event of the weekend was the Hospice in the Weald Moonlight Walk to raise funds in aid of "Celebrating Life, Dignity in Death”.

Hundreds of people came on a beautiful sunny evening to do 4, 8 or 13 miles around Sevenoaks town and Knole Park.

Sorry to say, I wasn’t up for even the shortest distance on Saturday, but came along to support council colleagues and friends of Cllr Nick Varley who were looking set to raise well over £10,000 for the charity - see his charity page here. Nick has recently been diagnosed with motor neurone disease, and has really appreciated the care from the Hospice.

Over half the Town Councillors took part - and the start was all great fun. If you were wondering why so many people were in Sevenoaks in fancy dress over the weekend, this was it.

Some of the team made it - under moonlight - to the 13 mile marker. Some were still celebrating - others definitely footsore and weary. But all for a great cause.
