Sevenoaks Town Council unveils refurbished Buckhurst Lane Play Area
Published: 03 March 2026
Sevenoaks Town Council is delighted to announce that improvement works have been carried out at the much-loved Buckhurst Lane Play Area, located within the Environmental Park.
The upgrade has enhanced both the safety and enjoyment of the site for local families and included:
• Repairing the zip wire and replacing the safety surface underneath
• Installing a new seesaw
• Rebuilding the multi-play unit in the Junior Area with all new timbers
• Rebuilding the basket swing with all new timbers
• Replacing two springers in the Toddler Area
• Renewing the fence around the Toddler Area
• Laying new turf
• Renewing playground signage
By investing in new equipment, Sevenoaks Town Council is helping to ensure the play area remains durable and engaging for young people for years to come.
To ensure the new grass establishes properly, the Town Council is temporarily fencing off the freshly laid turf. The area will be reopened once it has had sufficient time to settle and grow.
The Mayor of Sevenoaks, Cllr Tony Clayton, said, “
It’s great to see the Buckhurst Lane Play Area refreshed and repaired. This is an important play space for children living in the town centre, as well as for families visiting Sevenoaks town centre. The new springers in the Toddler Area replaced old ones which had suffered from use by children they weren’t designed for. And the see-saw in the Junior Area had taken some heavy use! Thanks to the Town Council team for getting it all up and running so efficiently after the damage in January – and I hope we won’t see a repeat of earlier vandalism. If you see people mistreating the equipment in this lovely wooded area by Knole Park, please let us know on 01732 459953.”
