Sevenoaks Town Council approves funding for Greatness Pavilion landscaping

Construction of the new Sports and Community Pavilion at Greatness Recreation Ground is progressing well and is considerably ahead of schedule. Sevenoaks Town Council has now approved additional funding to support the final phase of the project.

Over £2 million has been invested in delivering the core structure of the building. This has been made possible thanks to funding from the Premier League, The FA and Government’s Football Foundation, the Premier League Stadium Fund, Sevenoaks Town Council’s Community Infrastructure Levy funding (from developers) and Sevenoaks Town Football Club.

At its recent Finance Committee meeting, Sevenoaks Town Council agreed to allocate a further £159,950 for the surrounding landscaping at Greatness Recreation Ground.

The funding will improve access and transport provision, including the installation of a new cycle stand, two electric vehicle charging points, and resurfacing of the car park.

In addition, the approved funding will cover the creation of new pedestrian pathways, an emergency access pathway, two gates, and tree planting to further improve the site’s environment and accessibility.

Cllr Claire Shea, Leader of Sevenoaks Town Council, said, “Sevenoaks Town Council is committed to investing in high-quality community assets for our residents, and the exciting improvements at Greatness will benefit a great many. We are pleased to allocate additional funding to Greatness Pavilion to ensure its long-term success and enjoyment by all.”

Paul Lansdale, Chairman of Sevenoaks Town FC, welcomed the additional Sevenoaks Town Council funding, commenting, “This is amazing news; it will really finish the park off nicely. Sevenoaks Town FC is proud and honoured to be part of this amazing community project.”

Sevenoaks Town FC has also committed a further £16,900 towards the finishing touches for the building.
